MACEDO, Mauro Mamani. Hatunkuyay: the loves of the Sun and the Moon in Quechua poetry. CELEHIS [online]. 2020, n.39, pp.61-70. ISSN 2313-9463.

The Andean gods display passions between them and humans. Thus, the apus and wak'as fall in love with other wak'as, but also with men or women, whom they seduce and want to make them live with them inside the hills or at the bottom of the lagoons, where everything is wonderful. In this context, this article aims to study the representation of love between the Sun and the Moon, as they form an Andean couple that serves as an example for relations between humans. The article is divided into three parts. First we contextualize the Andean loves, apus and wak'as, that fall in love with each other and with humans. Then, we observe the loves of the Sun and the Moon that, individually, they have with other divinities. Finally, we study the representation of the Andean couple: the Sun and the Moon, for which we propose a Quechua poem where the romance of the deities is represented. We will show that the Andean men (Runakuna) take them as a model for their affective relationships; in addition, we maintain that through Quechua poetry we can extend the teaching that develops through oral tradition.
