This article discusses the analytical categories Territory, Territoriality and Social Identities, in the context of inaccurate border areas in territorial disputes. Discusses certain dynamics of social relations in these areas taking, as analysis perspective, the dry border between Brazil and Uruguay in the period of constitution of the States-Nation (century XIX). The nature of this categories links with the pair inseparable demarcation and emancipation as also attaches its symbolic dimension. Since the experience of the border, area approximations and permanent conflicts, the aspects from the field of identities acquire a particular dynamic, and relate to characterizations related to the territorial domains and the processes of territorialities. Such thoughts extend until today, therefore, is in the debate today
