VILA, Esteban Ezequiel. From Academic Sociology to Scientific Sociology: Protagonists and Intellectual Traditions of the Transition at the National University of Cuyo (1939-1968). Rev. hist. am. argent. [online]. 2024, vol.59, n.1, e005. Epub 16-Maio-2024. ISSN 2314-1549. http://dx.doi.org/10.48162/rev.44.056.
This work studies the path of sociology at the National University of Cuyo from the appearance of the first chairs dedicated to the subject in 1939 until the foundations of the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences and the Sociology Degree in 1967 and 1968, respectively. Considering that period of time, the trajectories of the sociology professors of the Faculties of Philosophy and Arts and Economic Sciences are reconstructed, attending to their academic productions on the discipline. From the analysis of their texts, there will be observed the transition from academic sociology, focused on the dissemination of sociological knowledge, to scientific sociology, linked to empirical research. In turn, in this passage a change of the sources in which the local sociologists investigated can be appreciated, since they will go from the reception and uses of authors of European sociology (mainly German) to those from North American sociology.
