On several occasions we have tried to contribute to a necessary debate by publishing different reflections on Argentina's entry in the international system and, in particular, on the development of the country's international trade relations. In this article we take up again some of those reflections published elsewhere referring more specifically to the South American region and its international relations, paying special attention to those related to the development of different aspects of the Mercosur process and to the necessary academic training of specialists in these matters.
