This article picks some strategic points of the contemporary debate about history of design in Brazil, linking the reflection concerning a main matter in the field, like the searching of cultural set in context, which guides to a discussion about the possibility of a Brazilian cultural identity on design. From relating some facts and a group of reflections born in different periods and places through key concepts, this writing also pretends to show some continuities and discontinuities which result very important for the debate about design in Brazil. This analysis is constructed from the remark of some reviews about the architect Lina Bo Bardi and the Pernambucan designer Aloísio Magalhães´careers, made by design historian critics in Brazil, according to their last works.
