PRESTIA, Martín. Philosophy, poetry and politics in Carlos Astrada: Notes for a Reading ofEl mito gaucho (1948). Bol. estét. [online]. 2019, n.48, pp.28-38. ISSN 2408-4417. http://dx.doi.org/10.36446/be.2019.48.84.
El mito gaucho (1948) is considered one of the most important and representative books of Carlos Astrada. Often read emphasizing the historical-political context of its publication -the justicialist Argentina, political movement to which Astrada lent its adhesion-, the main purpose of this paper is to priorize its philosophical aspect. For this, it analyzes the different reachs of the notion of myth, seeking to establish the relationships between philosophy, poetry and politics in the cited work. It highlights the influence of the German romantic tradition -broadly understood, from Herder to Nietzsche-, as well as from Heidegger, retaking the interpretation proposed by Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe, who underlines the question of myth. The final part of the paper is dedicated to highlight the tensions contained in the notion of myth in Astrada’s book.
