INSAUSTI, Gabriel. The End of Art: Huidobro y Oteiza. Bol. estét. [online]. 2022, n.58, pp.1-10. ISSN 2408-4417.  http://dx.doi.org/10.36446/be.2022.58.254.

Jorge Oteiza (1908-2003) referred quite often to Vicente Huidobro, the Chilean poet, whom he met in Santiago de Chile in 1935. It is a rather unknown and enigmatic episode of his career, but in time it would bring important consequences. The archives at Fundación Oteiza include in fact three essays that provide a glimpse of the influence of the poet in the evolution of the young artist’s aesthetic thinking, especially as regards his understanding of the end of the avant-garde enterprise, an aspect that would remain constant throughout Oteiza’s career.

Palavras-chave : Hispanic American aesthetics; Hegel; history of art; avant garde; socialist realism.
