ZAMBONINO JACOME, Stalin Rodrigo. Early Maladaptative Schemas and Anxiety in Preadolescence. Rev. psicodebate: psicol. cult. soc. [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.1, pp.49-61. ISSN 2451-6600.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18682/pd.v22i1.4993.

Anxiety in preadolescence is a determining factor whose consequences proliferate into adulthood. The present study aimed to analyze the relationship between Early Maladaptive Schemas and anxiety in preadolescence. It was a pure, non-experimental investigation, with a quantitative approach, with cross-sectional correlational scope. The Scale of Early Maladaptive Schemas in Children (EEMTN) and the Spanish version of the Childhood Anxiety-Related Emotional Disorder Detection Questionnaire (SCARED) were used as information collection instruments. The sample consisted of a total of 282 participants: children and adolescents between 10 and 13 years old (M = 11,76; DT = 1,09), attending middle school and higher school level, from educational units of the Latacunga canton in Ecuador. The results showed that the Early Maladaptive Schemas, as a whole, were positively and significantly correlated with anxiety and its dimensions. The frequency of positive symptoms for anxiety was presented in 51.4% of the total sample, showing significant differences depending on the schooling variables (t = -2.10; p = .037) and age group (t = -2.29, p = .023). The schemas that presented a predictive possibility on anxiety were the Vulnerability schemas (ß = .50, t = 9.51, p < .001), Abandonment (ß = .41, t = 7.42, p < .001) and Subjugation (ß = .32, t = 5.60, p < .001). Based on these findings, it is possible to infer that the information obtained can be used as empirical support in the development and execution of subsequent prevention and intervention actions that address anxiety in preadolescence.
