FORNET, Jorge. Getting to Havana in the 21st century. Recial [online]. 2023, vol.14, n.23, pp.177-191.  Epub 30-Jun-2023. ISSN 2718-658X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.53971/2718.658x.v14.n23.41701.

Within the genre of "travel literature", journeys to political and social revolutions, such as Russia or China, hold a prominent position. Trips to the Cuban Revolution, which began even before the triumph of January 1959, are part of this tradition. Many of the most renowned Latin American writers and journalists have produced notable chronicles of their Cuban experiences; experiences whose effect, naturally, would be modified with the passage of time. This article focuses on the ones born from the trips to the Cuba of the 21st century, already far from the enthusiasm of the first revolutionary times. Exploring various “Cuban” chronicles of this century provides insights into the diverse perceptions generated by this unique country and sheds light on the distinct perspectives of the writers. Narrating the story of 21st-century Havana is an experience that extends beyond a specific city; it also speaks to us about a political project and the stance taken toward it.

Palavras-chave : Havana; Cuban revolution; chroniclers; 21st century.
