This paper aims to search for the meaning of the intellectual production of Antonio Batista Pereira, a thinker with rich memories for the Brazilian history, buy largely ignored, even within the country. He was a liberal and nationalist intellectual of the old Republic, always very close to national political power. Nevertheless, Batista Pereira edited a varied and important collection of texts that were ordered around issues about our identity and its bond with Rio de la Plata.
