COSTA ANGRIZANI, Rodrigo et al. Preliminary results of archaeological research at Campo Coronel Sarmiento - Mirador Site (Pre-Delta National Park, Diamante, Entre Ríos). Folia [online]. 2023, n.47, pp.113-140. ISSN 0325-8238.  http://dx.doi.org/10.30972/fhn.0476764.

This paper presents the first results of the archaeological, sedimentological and paleoethnobotanical studies of the Campo Coronel Sarmiento-Mirador (CCS-M) site. These investigations aim to contribute to the knowledge of the groups that inhabited the high hills bordering the Paraná Delta (southwestern Entre Ríos) and its Holocene palaeoenvironmental framework. This site, located within the Pre-Delta National Park (Diamante Dept.), is located on a high hill at 46 masl. A total of 13 m2 were excavated at the site, where mainly ceramic material was recovered. To a lesser extent, faunal remains, vegetal charcoal and calcareous coarse gravel were found. Sediment samples were collected for the extraction of biosiliceous microremains and pedological and sedimentological analysis of both site profiles and sedimentary core columns. The evidence obtained so far allows us to propose that this sector of the high hills has an archaeological record that differs from the insular deltaic zone, mainly in terms of the most outstanding characteristics of the pottery and the type of settlement identified. However, a better understanding of the significance of these differences requires further research in the area.
