This work has as objective to know the degree competition in regional cattle auctions, studying the factors that affect the total number of bids that are made by cattle buyers when they purchase fed cattle. A negative binomial model is used as method of analysis, using data of cattle auctions in the central región of the Santa Fe Province. The results show that factors such as the pnce of beginning at which the auctioneer would wish to initiate bids up by the lot of cattle, the corporal condition, the number of buyers interested in the purchase of the lot, animal breeds, the particular cattle auction and whether the cattle presents some problem of health or visible corporal damage are importan! in explaining the total number of bids that receive the lots of cattle that commercializes by cattle auctions.
