MARANGONE, Silvana; IRIARTE, Matías  e  SARDI, Fernando. PETROGRAPHIC AND GEOCHEMICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF EL TACO GRANITE, SIERRA DE ANCASTI, CATAMARCA. Ser. correl. geol. [online]. 2022, vol.38, n.1, pp.1-10. ISSN 1666-9479.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5600269.

The granitic stock of two El Taco micas, of Ordovician age, is located in the central sector of the Sierra de Ancasti, province of Catamarca, in the homonymous locality. The body covers an irregular outcropping surface of approximately 21 km2. It presents intragranitic pegmatitic dikes 10 to 50 cm wide and up to 3 m long with a strike of N 279° and a subvertical inclination. The stock rocks of the El Taco granite are metamorphites of different metamorphic grades. To the east of the body, they consist of banded schists recognized as the Ancasti Formation, while to the west they are gneisses and migmatites of the El Portezuelo Formation. It has a syenogranite composition of two facies, one light gray equigranular and the other porphyritic with a more pinkish hue attributed to the presence of potassium feldspar phenocrysts (mainly microcline). Geochemically, it is characterized by being peraluminous, leukocratic, with an affinity for Type S and calcoalkaline granites. It shows an enrichment of K2O, P2O5, Ga and Nb and a depletion of TiO2, FeOt, MgO, CaO, Ba, Cr, Sr, V, Zn and Zr normalized to continental crust. It is a granite with a non-collision character that corresponds to an arc tectonic environment, said environment is consistent with the contemporary granites of the area such as the Villisman granite that is located further north.
