In the early seventeenth century there are documents showing original reflection, they pose the challenge of understanding their meanings and proposals as legitimate knowledge. In a Letter from Guaman Poma de Ayala addressed to the Spanish monarch Felipe III, he posits his own representation of "philosophy" among the amautas.

The study of the beginnings of Latin American philosophy must attend to topics registered by our original thinkers, among them Juan Yunpa, whom he describes as a "philosopher." The chronicler met and spoke with him, allowing him to confirm astronomical knowledge and confirm his thoughts on preserved reflective units, which, in part, are compared with the philosophical thought of his time.

The reassessment of conditions of legitimacy in Latin American philosophy comes from the proposal that Rodolfo Kusch made about our original thinker.
