This contribution proposes to address the problem of scientific knowledge and its link with other modes of knowledge, in order to review the standardized conceptions and dichotomies in this regard. The objective is to consider this review about what we understand by “knowledge”, in particular from the institutional academic field as a condition of possibility of an integral university practice. It is about investigating the conceptions of knowledge from the scope of from the scope of production of the university, on the one hand, and the conceptions and valuations of other forms of knowledge on the other; as well as the relationships established between them. It is considered that the theme is central when thinking about the link between the substantive functions of the university: an area of relationship between teaching, research and extension.
