This article shares the results of a university extension experience that linked researchers, teachers and university students with released workers who are members of the Rama de Liberados, Liberadas y Familiares de detenidos del Movimiento de Trabajadores Excluidos –UTEP. This is an organization that brings together work cooperatives and productive poles whose members share the experience of having been imprisoned. The analyzed intervention produced two audiovisual pieces; one for internal training within the organization and the other for its public dissemination. From this experience, a theoretical–methodological reflection is developed around the potential of audiovisual production as a tool for collaboration, as an integral practice that articulates research–extension–learning and in particular for the enhancement of processes of co–construction of knowledge.
