Thematic axis: 1- Guidance in the Educational Field. Ethics and deontology.

Within the framework of the Consolidated Research Project "Social representations of study, work, perception of oneself and anticipations of the future in some students of the Faculty of Psychology of the National University of San Luis", Code N ° 12-1218, Res. CS. N 126/18, period 2018-2021, approved by the Secretariat of Science and Technology of the National University of San Luis, directed by Dra. María Corina Tejedor, this work arises, for which the analysis of texts was taken into account about a project carried out in Europe, called IMPROVE, publications about the situation of Orientation in Latin America and deontological norms related to the field of orientation.

From this emerges, among others, the question about what would be the competences required in the exercise of the role of counselor, as well as to inquire about which discipline would be the most pertinent to perform such a practice.

The problem arises from noticing that it is exercised by professionals from various disciplines and without adequate training as specialists in the field. In relation to this, we consider it relevant to mention that it is established within the scope of the profession of the psychologist, according to the Law of Professional Practice of Psychology, No. 23277/85, of the Argentine Republic and the Provincial Law of the Professional Exercise of the Psychologist in San Luis, Nº XIV-0367-2004 (5700).
The objectives are to deepen the skills required in a psychology professional for their performance as counselor; acquire knowledge about the current paradigms in Orientation Psychology; inquire about relevant Deontological Codes; develop a reflective and critical thinking regarding professional practice from the ethical point of view.

The methodology used is the bibliographic tracking, carried out from an exhaustive search of literature on the subject, with the expectation of being able to provide an overview of the current situation regarding the field of Orientation Psychology and its relationship with ethical aspects.

From the results obtained, the basic competences that psychologists should have dedicated the orientation and commitment of all professionals in this discipline about acquiring a global vision on various knowledge related to their activity, promoting interdisciplinary work.

As a conclusion and based on the results from the literature search, it would be appropriate to adapt the training and training, according to the competencies required for a suitable action in guidance, contemplating in them areas of both professional and social training, and staff, in addition to emphasizing the importance of reflecting on the strengths and weaknesses observed in that field. Similarly, it is essential to accept the commitment to update them permanently according to the changes prevailing in the society in which it operates and in line with international, regional and national ethical standards that link professionals of the discipline, as well as adopting positions reflective and critical ethics regarding the actions of any specialist committed to Human Rights and the corresponding Ethics Codes, these guides being inescapable in the exercise of their professional activity.
