Abstract

BLANCO PUENTES, Juan Alberto. "La vorágine" by José Eustasio Rivera: impetuous whirl of voices. Cuad. CILHA [online]. 2012, vol.13, n.1, pp.29-42. ISSN 1852-9615.

Starting from the novel of José Eustasio Rivera, we recognize the multiple presence of voices coming from the characters whose echo filters through the main character's polyphonic conscience. La Vorágine picks up in replica and rejoinder the voice of Arturo Cova and that of the narrator / compiler, the voices urban that eradicate the characters, the economic voices that transform the rural space, the voices of the exploitation and the foreign influence, the voices of the destruction in front of the voices of the nature and the voices of the history: it conquers, modernity and violence. All in counterpoint foreshadow the limits of the Nation.

Keywords : Colombian literature; Novel polyphonic; Character; Exile; (In) Human nature.
