Abstract

RADICE, Juan José Pintos. When the territory becomes a problem: social representations of the environment of informal reclaimers of the Mar del Plata landfill. Estudios Socioterritoriales [online]. 2020, vol.28, pp.66-67. ISSN 1853-4392.  http://dx.doi.org/10.37838/unicen/est.28-066.

This article looks into the relationship between the informal reclaimers in the city of Mar del Plata and their work on the final disposal site. The way in which these subjects construct social representations around risk and the environment is analyzed, as well as the link they build with the landfill as a territory and the daily contact with waste. Through an ethnographic journey, which recovers the discourses of the actors, their biographical and work trajectories are analyzed. Finally, the relationship between its activity and the mitigation of the environmental impact of waste is analyzed, offering a vision of waste and landfill from a point of view on waste and landfill.

Keywords : Waste; Social representations; Environment; Recovery.
