Jorge Enrique Lage’s novel Archive, is a document that does not follow a conventional literary structure. Both formally and thematically, the author emphasizes his use of the literary platform as an archive that reflects the interweaving of the personal and the collective, and the individual and the nation. Through the tools of fiction writing, Lage explores notions such as citizenship, civil society, and national defense. He juxtaposes supernatural imaginaries like ghosts, zombies, doppelgangers, and cyborgs with realistic narratives that depict the queer body and the figure of the spy, creating a space of alterity within Cuban literature. This study reveals that Jorge Enrique Lage’s Archivo offers a literary space for political intervention through memory.
